title: New Service, Matrix.to

Just recently, I set up Matrix.to on ~vern.
I did this because most people use matrix.to, Matrix.org's instance of Matrix.to. This, sadly, centralizes Matrix even more.
We also had our Matrix clients use mto.vern.cc instead of matrix.to, so that our users can easily avoid the centralization of Matrix.
Thank you for being a part of ~vern.

~vern members can now place their PGP keys in `~/.pgp.asc` and have it appear on `vern.cc/p/user.asc`.
There is also an HTML list at `vern.cc/p/`, and a plaintext list available at `vern.cc/p/list` if you want to make a script to import them.

title: New Service, ProxiTok

A couple of weeks ago, I deployed ProxiTok against Arya's wishes.
ProxiTok is a privacy-respecting front-end for TikTok.
Arya doesn't like TikTok, enough to the point that he was against setting up ProxiTok, but I did it anyways.
So now you can watch people dancing (or something, I don't know what's on TikTok) while keeping your privacy.

Thank you for being a part of ~vern.

title: New Service, YaCy
date: Tue, 08 Nov 2022

A few days ago, I set up three YaCy instances on ~vern.
YaCy is a distributed search engine built on the principles of peer-to-peer (P2P) networks.
The reason there are three instances is for onion, I2P, and clearnet; I wouldn't want to have I2P and onion results when I'm on a clearnet browser.
The only YaCy instance that is connected to other peers is the clearnet one, because I couldn't find any darknet YaCy instances that seed.
They are all crawling, and have at least 3 million pages altogether.
The YaCy search algorithm isn't that good, however, so don't expect very great results.
Thank you for being a part of ~vern.
